Press Release

Framed textile artworks that make a uniquely beautiful impression in any home.

For Immediate Release - January 2025

Loom Designs offers a unique and beautiful collection of framed textile artworks from
around the world. Handmade to an exceptional standard and finished in a high-
quality frame, each piece makes a striking addition to any interior.
To source, customise and design its original pieces, Loom works closely with
communities of exceptional artisans who use skills that have been handed down
from generation to generation. The artworks are painstakingly hand woven or
embroidered in silk or cotton thread or hand-dyed wool, often taking weeks or
months to complete. The results – vividly colourful or strikingly monochrome –
celebrate their cultural origins while bringing inimitable style to any home. Current
collections are suzanis from Uzbekistan, otomis from Mexico, backstrap weaving
from Myanmar and an exciting collaboration between Aboriginal designs and
traditional Kashmiri chain stitch; a further collection will be added in 2025.
Framing the artworks is the final part of the design process, not only protecting them
from dust and damage, but also adding a finishing touch that enhances their overall
appearance. Loom offers a range of framing materials and styles, from classic wood
to modern box acrylics.
Loom counts among its customers some of the UK’s most high-profile interior
designers, and is always happy to work closely with clients in order to find the perfect
artwork and frame, considering light, space, colours, furnishings and other artworks,
and even or providing mock-up photographs of the piece in situ. The company also
offers a bespoke service for both artworks and frames.
Through its website, Loom sells to customers around the world. Viewings and
consultations are available by appointment at its design studio near Bruton,
Somerset. From 24 February to 23 March, Loom will be part of a pop-up at 324-326
King’s Road, London. (Open Monday to Saturday 10am-6pm and Sunday 11am-
5pm).

Founder Gaynor French says: ‘I love textiles and non-traditional art mediums, and
feel strongly that textiles should be admired as art, not just as furnishings. I’m

passionate about seeking beautiful and original work whilst supporting incredible
communities worldwide.’

Background to Loom Designs
Loom Designs was launched by Gaynor French in 2021. Gaynor is from a family of
painters, and grew up surrounded by art. She and her husband both spent much of
their upbringings as expats in Asia, Africa, Europe and the Americas, and have also
travelled extensively. Frustrated by the high cost of original art – especially in large
format – they gradually collected a number of textile-based artworks that they hung
in their home. Having been asked time and time again where they bought them,
Gaynor realized that there was no established art retail category for textile artworks,
let alone any businesses championing them. She decided to set up Loom Designs,
with the principle of offering affordable and beautiful, hand-made, framed textile
artworks that work with any interior style, while supporting artisanal communities
worldwide.
